On June 20th, the UK officially entered the summer season. For many, this is the most welcome time of the year. Sunny days and warm, long evenings are perfect for hosting summer parties, charity balls, and weddings. What’s not to love about this time of year?
Over the next few months, Team CQ will be incredibly busy playing live music for many of these special occasions. One part of this we enjoy the most is bringing our music to outdoor spaces.
Occasionally, we need a backup plan in case the British weather gets in the way. But most of the time, we achieve your wishes for an outdoor garden reception or party. A little shade for our quartet and maybe a cold drink is all we ask from you—and, of course, a warm, not too windy summer day from the weather!
Our Top Tips for Outdoor Entertaining
If you’re planning an outdoor event this summer, here are a few tips from our many years of experience:
1. Provide shaded areas for guests to retreat to when it gets too hot.
2. Ensure there are flat surfaces for us to set up our quartet and for guests who may find uneven ground challenging.
3. Make sure there is easy access back into the building for the bar and facilities.
4. Have a contingency plan in place in case of bad weather.
5. Offer seating for guests – standing for long periods can be tiring.
6. Be mindful of the environment – wasps, bees, and pollen can be troublesome for many.
