STEPHEN McDADE
Violin

Stephen violin and tuba at the Royal Academy of Music. He later studied conducting with Peter Stark, ‘Tension in the Art of Performance’ with Kato Havas, and the Colourstrings Method under Géza Szilvay.

Stephen has been an active freelance violinist, playing with orchestras, West End musicals, solo and chamber music performances. He has been a violin tutor and conductor of the National Children’s Orchestra, principal conductor of ENCORE and conducts the senior orchestra at the Gloucester Academy of Music courses. Stephen is currently Head of Strings and Assistant Director of Music at Malvern College, and the Head of Strings for the National Schools Symphony Orchestra.

Stephen currently plays on a violin he commissioned in 1990 by Nigel Harris.
